39 weeks and Waiting

Well, we had our OB appointment yesterday, and apparently, there doesn't seem to be much change from our last two appointments. I think daddy is ready now, and we're just both waiting on Sweetpea to come out; she seems to be getting comfortable and taking her time in her spa. I suppose we still have a week before she is her full 40 weeks. I've heard that first babies are usually late... but I was thinking that maybe she'd come early since the labor process started early on, and she is already positioned really really low. Hopefully, she won't come too late. Sweetpea's Lola (grandma, daddy's mom) is coming next week already, and it'd be great if Sweetpea makes her appearance before her Lola leaves. Just in case, Dr. Dydell says that we should have a backup plan. She usually gives it a week to a week and a half past the due date, and then they try to help induce the baby by inserting a Foley catheter (a balloon type device) that puts pressure on the cervix, much like the baby's head does prior to labor, and helps in further dilation. This sometimes starts the labor process, and in that case, pitocin won't be necessary. We're hoping that Sweetpea will come on her own, since I've heard that induced labor pains are more intense. Before, daddy kept saying for her to wait since he was still getting things together, but now, he says he's ready... he's hoping she doesn't come next Friday, though, since it's Friday, the 13th, LOL. We're still amazed that a new life will be joining us soon. It's all in God's hands. For now, we wait.

I was thinking of you my entire trip in Michigan. Looking forward to hearing the news of Sweetpea Urcia's arrival.
