Two Month Appointment & Tummy Time Pics

This past Monday, little Sweetpea had her two month appointment. It seems that everything is about a week off in terms of her appointment dates and her actual age, since she was actually at her 9 weeks. Anyhow, she seems to be growing up pretty well and moving along the stats charts nicely. During this appointment, she got vaccinated on both of her thighs and received kiddie bandages on each; one of the vaccines was a three-in-one vaccine eliminating the number of shots she had to have, which I'm sure she was thrilled about. Rather than a delayed reaction from her first shot, she screamed right away and seemed aware of what was going on, so she actually was trying to move her other leg away when the lady was trying to give her the other shot. She also received an oral vaccine that prevents her from getting the virus that causes severe diarrhea that may lead to hospitalization; this vaccine is given as a series of three with the first being administered before a baby is 12 weeks. We were told that it was suppose to be sweet tasting like sugar water, so babies should like it. However, our little one did not like it at all; she cried and wanted to spit it out. I think she recognized that it was not the milk she was used to and was probably thinking, "what is this stuff?" All the same, we got through her vaccinations, and fortunately for us, she did not have a reaction to them that we were aware of (no fever, swollen thighs, etc). As for her stats, for weight, she made the 75th percentile, weighing in at 11 lbs 8 oz. For length, she is in the 90th percentile, measuring 23.5inches. I knew we couldn't be imagining it... we've had to move the seat belt up on her car seat a couple times, and after we returned from our trip in VA, somehow, she looked like she'd outgrow the bassinet pretty soon. As for future guidelines, we've been told to give her more tummy time to build up her upper body and prepare her for crawling... so here are some pics of her hanging out and then doing some tummy time on the boppy :)

Sweetpea's First Trip

At about 8 weeks old, our little Sweetpea went on her very first plane trip. Daddy had a conference in Washington DC and wanted the whole family to come, so we packed our bags, researched and called about baby check-in policies and hotel crib (which actually is a play yard). We later thought that perhaps it wasn't a good idea since she was still very young and the trip taking essentially a whole day, but we had already purchased our plane ticket. The trip to DC actually wasn't bad at all; it made it easier since both of us were travelling with Sweetpea rather than just one of us. From Seattle, we got to go on a separate family line at the security checkpoint. For the most part, Sweetpea slept on the plane for both legs of the flight after I fed her during take-offs (It is recommended that babies are either fed or given a pacifier during take-off and landing so that the pressure on their ears won't be so bad), so she did pretty well; people commented on how little and cute she was and how she did a really good job. Timing for our flights actually corresponded to her feeding times, and we always had just enough time to change her diapers at the airports. While there, we tried to keep her on the same schedule as when she is at home in the west coast. It was a good trip since she got to spend time with her ama, ancong, ema, michelle ah-ee, and meet her ta-ee. Coming back was a bit more challenging since I we had different flights for the first leg; there's so much stuff to carry and bring when you have a baby. Sweetpea was with me during the short hour and a half or so flight, and I was able to get her to sleep before we got on. Daddy met us in Philladelphia. From there, the flight to Seattle was about 5 hours long, which was a bit rough for Sweetpea. She fussed and cried some but we were able to calm her down and help her sleep eventually. Overall, flying wasn't too bad, but shorter flight segments seem easier. We'll see how she does on future trips when she is a bit older.

Little Person

You may notice a back log of posts; some were started an later completed, so there may be new posts added on past dates. It's hard to find time to keep up with the blog when taking care of a baby especially since daddy was pretty busy with work this past month and then he got sick shortly after, so I was on 24 hour baby duty. Anyhow, until recently, none of Sweetpea's pants fit her since she was still too small for them despite the tag label indicating that it fits 0-3 months. In fact, when she was first born, even the newborn clothes were too big including her take me home outfit; the preemie size seem fit a bit better, so we had her in onesies and bundled her up for the most part. When daddy first saw Sweetpea in pants especially when she was styling in jeans, he kept commenting how much he liked how she looked because "she looks like a little person." Well, here are some photos of Sweetpea in pants that she can now wear. In one of the pics, she is posing with her adorable Bunnies By the Bay bunny and rattle peas in a pod that her friend Jujube and auntie O dropped off. The other pics are her in jeans; who'd have thought they make jeans for babies. really cute!

Newborn Photo Session

We recently got back some prints from Sweetpea's newborn photo session. We had received the cd of pictures earlier last month and selected a couple photos for printing. Though it's been quite slow and busy, we are getting the birth announcements in the mail. Anyhow, I discovered a cool new program by Hallmark, and we thought it would be nice to share some of the pictures with you. Enjoy!
