Little Sweetpea just visited the pediatrician for her 9 month appointment, and it seems that she is growing pretty well. We were a bit worried about her weight since we didn't think she ate as well when she acquired a fever two weekends ago that lasted 4 days with no other symptom. Normally, when she was sick in the past, she would still smile and play, but she was much fussier this last time. Thank goodness that the fever was the worst of it. When it broke, she just had a little sniffles and then was back to normal shortly after. Anyhow, she weighed in at 16lb5oz putting her in the 5-10 percentile... But, as before, she continues to shoot up with a height of 28.5", keeping her in the 75-90 percentile. The pediatrician wasn't at all concerned and said that a weight skid is normal and that looking at me and daddy, she would expect Sweetpea to be tall and slender. In fact, doing some calculations, the doctor predicts she will be about 5'4 or 5'5. Hey, that's taller than me! Sometimes we can't believe how fast she's growing, but for now, we enjoy watching her as an infant and soon to be toddler. She brings lots of laughter and joy to our life, and being her parents has been a true blessing. We can only hope and pray that we will be able to guide her and help her reach her highest potential, goals, and dreams. If our dates are correct, we will be dedicating Little Sweetpea at church this Sunday. Now, this isn't making a commitment for her since that is something that she will have to do for herself when she is older, but it is a public commitment for us to be loving parents and to teach her the way of Christ...and for the church to help us in the process. Its such a beautiful and momentous occasion. We're very excited to be a part of this and to be blessed to have Sweetpea in our lives.
