Seems that there are lots of babies being born or expected within our happyfish fellowship group and circle of friends. First among the little ones is baby Jujube who was born in December and made it for the year of the golden pigs. Then in March, baby Toby arrived early to Auntie Ang, giving him the exact same birth date as his older sister (only two years apart). For this month, the most recent babies born were to my college friend Grace who had baby Sophie on April 1. Our friends Auntie KL and Uncle JL had been praying that their baby would hold off after midnight so they can dodge the April fools bullet, and alas, baby Odelia arrived close to 3AM April 2. Auntie KL did a great job delivering all natural without any drugs, epidural, or any other aids throughout her labor and delivery; I hope I can do the same when the time comes. Congratulations to all our friends; I'm sure the experience and new family life will both be precious and memorable. As for Sweetpea and I, we had our 30 week appointment this past Wednesday. Once again, the measurements are right on target, so Sweetpea is growing well. The doctor says the fact that she is hiccuping more often is a good sign because it is a good indication of neurological development as she intakes some of the bubblies inside the womb. The only downside is that they found some glucose in my urine, and because the doctor informed us that we just barely slid into first base with the first glucola test (our result 138, flag range 140 and up), they want to run more test to make sure that I don't have gestational diabetes. So, here I am sitting in the PacLab office taking the extended glucola test which consist of fasting, taking blood, drinking a glucola solution that is 3x more concentrated than last time (yuck, the other one was hard enough to finish in 5 minutes) and then drawing blood every hour for 3 hours. I suppose getting four holes on my arm is not too bad as long as the results have a positive outcome. Hopefully, the results will come out fine; we're asking that everyone pray for us as well. There are enough worries in pregnancy, and gestational diabetes added on would be no fun. We'll keep you guys posted.
