Crafty Ladies

Two weekends ago, Sweetpea's daddy and I got to host a baby shower for a couple in our Happyfish fellowship group. The weeks prior, I had been looking up baby crafts, and coincidentally, Auntie Ang emailed me and mentioned that she saw some diaper cakes for sale that could potentially be used for the shower. I sent her one of the links for diaper wreath I had been looking at; then, I thought it would be fun to have the happyfish girls get together before the shower to do some crafts... mainly the diaper wreath and some cake decorating, and it's pretty cool how the wreath not only works as a nice useful gift to the couple, but it also doubles up as neat shower decoration! Auntie KL is a BIG fan of tigger, so we tried to have tigger incorporated into the shower as much as possible. The girls brought over different items to put onto the wreath and got to work while the guys hung out and played games :) Here's how it turned out... Tada...

I think it looks pretty cool, and the guys liked it too. Now, for the cake, I showed the girls some cake decorating techniques, and some of them got to do some lining, transfers, and filling in with stars. One of the trickiest part is mixing the icing just right to get the color we want, but in the end, I think we got pretty close to the right colors. What do you think? Now the girls are pros in cake decoratoring, right? :)

The shower decorations were almost done, and Sweetpea's daddy spent some time making a computer projected Jeopardy game where players can earn between one and five tigger points per category; I helped him with some of the questions, but I think presenting it the way he did took quite a bit of time. Overall, it was fun hosting, and we hope that Auntie KL and Uncle JL found their shower memorable. We pray for them and wish them all the best as they wait for the arrival of their first baby.

We had a lot of fun. Thank you HF girls for the thoughtful Tigger Theme decoration and thank you Sweetpea parents for the wonderful shower. :) I kept the wreath as it was, not sure if I want to use all the stuff from the wreath. It's too cute!! Maybe I'll just hang the wreath on the wall in the baby room. :)
