On the same day as Valentines this year, we celebrated Chinese New Year. Our family had just gotten back from Colorado, and I was looking forward to all the festivities. Because it was Sunday, I got to go to Sunday school and see all my friends. I dressed up in the Chinese outfit Ama and Ancong brought back for me from Canada; it finally fits me this year! Some of my Sunday school friends also wore their Chinese garments... it was fun to see them dress up too. After church, we ate at the new Chinese buffet close to our home. Since it was Chinese New Year, they were more expensive that day but had a special menu including lots of seafood specialties like giant crab legs. I even received a hong pao (red envelope) from the restaurant for luck, and I got to go home with a balloon. It was a fun and eventful day; I can't wait to see what this year brings.
