This past Monday, little Sweetpea had her two month appointment. It seems that everything is about a week off in terms of her appointment dates and her actual age, since she was actually at her 9 weeks. Anyhow, she seems to be growing up pretty well and moving along the stats charts nicely. During this appointment, she got vaccinated on both of her thighs and received kiddie bandages on each; one of the vaccines was a three-in-one vaccine eliminating the number of shots she had to have, which I'm sure she was thrilled about. Rather than a delayed reaction from her first shot, she screamed right away and seemed aware of what was going on, so she actually was trying to move her other leg away when the lady was trying to give her the other shot. She also received an oral vaccine that prevents her from getting the virus that causes severe diarrhea that may lead to hospitalization; this vaccine is given as a series of three with the first being administered before a baby is 12 weeks. We were told that it was suppose to be sweet tasting like sugar water, so babies should like it. However, our little one did not like it at all; she cried and wanted to spit it out. I think she recognized that it was not the milk she was used to and was probably thinking, "what is this stuff?" All the same, we got through her vaccinations, and fortunately for us, she did not have a reaction to them that we were aware of (no fever, swollen thighs, etc). As for her stats, for weight, she made the 75th percentile, weighing in at 11 lbs 8 oz. For length, she is in the 90th percentile, measuring 23.5inches. I knew we couldn't be imagining it... we've had to move the seat belt up on her car seat a couple times, and after we returned from our trip in VA, somehow, she looked like she'd outgrow the bassinet pretty soon. As for future guidelines, we've been told to give her more tummy time to build up her upper body and prepare her for crawling... so here are some pics of her hanging out and then doing some tummy time on the boppy :)
