Quality, Trendy Baby Stuff at Walmart? Treat & Other Great Baby Finds

Yes, you read right. Some people may be surprised, but Walmart is actually starting to carry some quality, modern baby items. For modern nursery furniture, they are carrying the Baby-Mod line which is actually the manufactured by Million Dollar Baby [also maker of DaVinci furniture], a line carried by many Juvenile specialty stores including our local down the street, Merry Go Round. I've read reviews saying the quality and colors are an exact match, and that the “Roxanne Crib” from Walmart baby Mod is actually the “Annabelle Crib” from Million Dollar Baby. A second line I discovered that is also worth mentioning is the George line which actually came out within the last couple years. Walmart hasn't done a very good job with advertising/marketing, so I'm not sure how well this line will fare... but, with Kohls getting designer Vera Wang and Target hiring Isaac Mizrahi and other top designers, Walmart had to do something. A little about George and its designer: George is a line by Mark Eisen, a well-known and accomplished designer who was a previous senior VP of design for Ann Taylor, and who also successfully launched a couple lines of clothing sold in high end stores like Bergdorf Goodman, Barneys, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, and Saks Fifth Avenue. Walmart carries George clothing and accessories and a George Baby line with affordable organic baby clothing and linens. I never really associated Walmart with quality stuff, but I may need to check it out :)

Now for the treat, thanks to Jujube's mommy for sending this info to me. Moms-to-Be get a free soft serve on May 21 at Baskin Robins - Bump Day! We were a bit disappointed to have missed the 31 cents scoop night at Baskin Robins this year, so maybe, we'll be able to stop by for "Bump night." It would be nice if the daddies-to-be, accompanying the mommies-to-be, can have a free scoop too. Oh well, Sweetpea's daddy is suppose to be on a diet.... but I have a feeling he'll want to share or get his own scoop.

Other current deals that may be of interest: Free BPA free bottle from Playtex; free 8x10 at Walgreens May 7 only, order online using coupon code 4MOM and pickup in store; Circle of Friends 30% off Gymboree coupon I received that is valid from May 8-11; 40% off Peanut Shell slings and nursing covers for this week thru May 13 with code MOTHERSDAY; lastly, clearout sale at thebabymarketplace.com, owner has fallen ill and is reducing her stock of name brand/boutique clothing and baby items and gifts - current offers include $20 off $50 for clothing and shoes including items already reduced - ideas of brands they carry Zutano, BabyLegs, Jack & Lily, Little Me, and popular cloth diaper brands and supplies. Enjoy.

Hi :)
The Peanut Shell offer sounds good. So I was wondering what size are you (so I have an idea of what size I could be).
Thanks a lot!

yeah, i think it's a really great price for the Peanut Shell nursing covers and slings (so far probably the lowest I've seen especially if the code works on the sale slings with the lowest being $25 before code). I actually ended up getting a hotsling from Target beforehand, but when I was at the boutique; my size was a small. I would check their size chart and try out some measurements. they're very cute and functional :)

i'm debating if i should get a peanut shell sling - how long do you think you'd carry the baby in it for? just trying to figure out if they're worth it?

slings are great because you can carry a newborn/small infant in it (esp if that's the only thing that'll calm them) and have your hands free to do stuff around the house. we also have the bjorn but i think they need to be a little older to use that. one of our friends raves about pouch slings; she has a hotsling (orig purchased at $60 or so plus shipping). she tells us how convenient it is for her to use, and how she used it in a hip carry position as her daughter got older and daddy got tired of carrying the little tot when they're out. check out the product info instructions section to view different ways of using the sling. site says some slings can hold up to 36lbs. btw, target online has also started carrying Peanut Shell (prev hotsling and peanut shell were only sold in specialty boutiques and nordstrom, etc), but with this promo, it's the best price i've seen on their slings. good luck deciding
